What exactly went wrong there? I was watching with no sound (at the office) - didn't know if there was some clue I missed?

Looks like he carried too much speed + over correction with the steering + braking while losing traction.

no i don't think he was going too fast. If you look at the very momment he rides up on the curb the rear of the car starts to swing out and he wasn't prepared.
Not sure if that could have been prevented with an eariler reaction. He also might have erroneously let off the gas just slightly, when when he made contact with the curb.

But I'm just amazed at how easily it happened. I would have thought that the whole 911 'superior rear grip due to weight over the rear axle' theory would have given the driver a little more lattitude.
