Luggage / Ski Rack

Hi,
I am looking to get a ski rack for my boxster before next winter. I am have found a few different options but I wanted your guys opinion.

This Link is to the ski rack that I really like, except that it is $500 with the ski attachment.
This Link is to the cheaper $175 rack. The catch is that I have no idea wether this rack will clear my hardtop. I could fabricate a custom ski mount for it.

So what do you guys think?
Should I go cheaper with some custom work, or more expensive and better looking?
Also, I am also concerned with the way they mount, I would rather have 4 bad circles of paint vs. two large strips of bad paint. Should I be concerned?
Does anyone have experience with either?
Thanks!

Thanks for the opinion but they look better than the RTS in my opinion, and are not nearly as noisy.
