sprucing up the interior...

Should I go with a yellow carbon fiber or paint the pieces yellow?

Interior as it sits now:

Yellow Painted:

Keep in mind my center console is yellow painted and I'm not going to replace it with yellow carbon fiber.

Or a silver carbon fiber?

First time I've seen yellow carbon. If you can afford it I think it's the way to go!

I just got an email back from John@macarbon, the yellow cf is silver cf tinted yellow. I agree it does look amazing but, I'm not sure if I'm ready to drop that kind of cash. I'm going over to the bodyshop this week to see how much he'd charge me to paint my existing pieces yellow. I'm not going over the top with that though, a few pieces painted yellow rather than all of them like is in that kit that Gemballa sells.

I'm waiting on a price quote from macarbon right now.

They did my dad's Gallardo, 996 Turbo, and F355 and all of them look amazing.

Absolutely, I'd love to see your interior. I've seen the Gemballa pics but, they're a bit over the top. Way to much yellow in the interior. I don't want to go blind getting in my car.;)

Just get a painted center console, color matched seats belts, aluminum rings for the instrument cluster and your good to go. If you have the base shift knob and handbrake then perhaps you can call a junk yard to see if they have any option combo handbrake and shift knobs for sale.

Some of this interior stuff is too much IMHO. I did the same as you sprucing up the interior with painted parts and such and it ended be too much for my own taste.

Besides, why in the world would you spend near $2k on your interior?

jordan986 07-23-2007 12:20 PM

as soon as I get my car back from the shop next week I'll post em! I just did the whole center console the key ring and all the vents (few other little things I cant remember) so you can determine if you'd like to pait more or not. I personaly wouldn't paint more.

as for cost I dont rember the number but it was really quite cheap as long as you dont mind removing the peices yourself

Yellow CF looks really nice, didnt know they made it.

Look at bumperplugs.com. They have great quality. They have most interior pieces and exchange your pieces as a core charge.

I remember carbon peices from Porsche OEM are crazy expensive. My steering carbon peices steering wheel was like $1700 from Porsche. If you do try to get them from somebody else as they'll probably be half the price. But the yellow carbon would look alot better than silver cause your car is yellow and center console.

But just painting stuff yellow will give you just as much effect for WAY less money. Also yellow seat belts would look really nice.

Hi blinkwatt:

My reason for doing so is because I think it looks nice. I occasionally see pictures of beautiful cars with custom modified exteriors, then you catch a glimpse of the interior and it looks worse than my 10 year old Jeep.

I think a balance is nice for a complete package. I've added a lot of CF to my interior, and have more that I hope to install this weekend. I have no plans to get rid of my car anytime soon. If I change my mind I can always put the original pieces back in and sale the CF for a nice chunk of change.

Already have yellow seat belts. I'm not buying Porsche OEM carbon fiber, it is ridiculously overpriced.

Maybe I'll just have the pieces painted. I'll see what macarbon quotes me on the pieces in yellow cf.

Carbon Fiber no doubt is awesome. For some reason though I think the different texture look of it may look odd against the smooth finish of your center console.

The link to the cars were great! I know it is old technology and styling but I love the F355. That still is one of my favorite Ferrari designs.

Sounds to me like way too much yellow--I wouldn't do the center stack in that color. Accent pieces in yellow (not the CF yellow) sound good to me. Get the yellow belts!!

yellowboxster01 07-23-2007 11:33 PM

i already have yellow seat belts. you can barely see them in this picture but, they are there.

Where did you buy them? Were they hard to install?

aussieboxy 07-23-2007 11:58 PM

Too Much

I have my console painted yellow and I personally think that's enough. Yellow on the dash is just too gawdy for me.
