curious as to what people are getting as far as mpg's. i was pleasantly surprised to average 28 mpg at 85 mph. doing brutal city driving (1-2 miles/trip, stop lights every city block, hilly), i'm getting 17 mpg. this is with the 3.2, 6 spd.

I've been getting similar mileage with my '02 S --- about 19-21 in town and 28-29 on the highway. I think there is at least one other thread on this forum which addresses mileage. Hope you enjoy your Box as much as I do mine! :cheers:

My 01 Base gets me about 21 mixed/city, and 31 highway. Driving from Austin to Phoenix and back (2000+ miles) at about 80mph average got me 31mpg. I'm quite happy with that.

2001 regular tiptronic box:

24.50 (combined C+H)
27.10 (highway)
26.60 (highway)
26.90 (highway - may actually have been about 27.50)
24.30 (mixed, mostly on hilly country roads and some stop n go)

Most of the highway driving was done in the range of 75-95.

I have a program in my PDA called Teal Auto that I use to keep track of maintenance intervals, etc. You can also log your fill-ups and it calculates your mileage for you. I'm driving a 2000 with the 2.7 liter and for the last 10 fill-ups I averaged 23.52 mpg. Mixture of city and highway driving.

my overall mpg is average of 14. best I have ever gotten was 18. I do alot of city driving and often spirited. After zeroing the odometer after each fill up I usually get a range of 195 to 215 miles. Im not very happy with it.

26 on the highway. I try to ignore the gas cost for in-town driving. :ah:

I get about 24 MPG. Highway and top down +95% of the time.

I get right at 30 on the highway, but it drops to around 18 in town.

2007 box w/tip 3k miles mostly in town 17mpg, one highway trip 27.5mpg (3 hour trip @ 75mph.)

2000 S - at one point I was getting just above 14 mpg but I had a mostly unused route home so could really let loose much of the ride. I did have an intermittent CEL that was O2 sensor related that took the dealer many months to finally catch and verify that the CPO warranty covered it. I should have pushed more initially.

Anyway, since that one sensor was replaced I've gotten around 18.5 mpg very consistently but more relaxed driving and a bit more highway since I recently moved.

Stunin_Stud, you might consider the O2 sensor thing since I was getting exactly the same as you - less than 200 miles between fillups. I just got another CEL recently (on the way to an autox!) and wonder if its the same thing.

I have an 03 Boxster I just bought, so I'm trying to get a handle on the mileage.
I have new Kumho all-seasons on the car, so I'm taking it easy for the first 1000 miles. In regular driving up to 3000 rpm, I'm getting 26-27 mpg overall mixed suburb/short trips and highway.
On a trip to the Poconos a couple of weeks ago, I got 35 mpg driving mostly at 55-65, top up, no AC, in the morning. I also drove about 1/3 of the trip with the top down, side windows up on secondary roads at 40-50 mph. Coming back, mostly downhill, I got 36.5 mpg., speed to 75 mph, mostly 55-65 mph, some AC. Once again, top down, windows up, on secondary roads, 40-50 mph, about 1/3 of the trip. The computer didn't show a lot of change on secondary roads, 33 mpg or so.
The computer agreed with the mpg number I calculated on fillup: total miles/gallons.

If you drive close to the speed limit and don't use the AC much, you should be able to get over 30 mpg on the highway. Around town, it depends on how many cold starts and short trips--also getting stuck in traffic. The computer says the low 20s under those conditions.

The on-board computer lets you monitor mpg continously, which helps to get good mileage.
