Canoe or Boxster ???

Hi Guys,

I just got back from another Track Day. Over here in the UK we are experiencing major rain and flooding. I had a great day but there were one or two "brown trouser"moments coming into a turn at 100mph in such conditions. The day almost got cancelled after two fairly major incidents. No one was harmed which is the important thing.

The tyres I got on my new track wheels need to go :)

Enjoy your weekends, I am going to trade the 986 for a canoe

Neat pics. I actually enjoy track driving in the rain. Too often I have found myself one of only a handful who actually go out in my run group (instructor group) when it rains. Good training i say!

Did you have any incedenes where you hydroplaned off the ground? That always scares the crap out of me. The Boxster seems to do it allot. If you catch it in time, you can easily gain control again, but I don't have the PSM so I gues it would happen less if I did have it.

I don't have PSM or Traction control and that is just the way I like it. Sure I've hydroplaned.. that's how you find the limit isn't it? ;) The rain just lets you find those limits at a lower level. Really good to get the "ass-ometer" geared to what the car is doing. Makes you be smooth as well.

Yeah no PSM here either, just my right foot (which isnt always up to the task). I had one sideways incident when I over braked when a Subaru WRX span in front of me. He must have thought the 4WD would make him invincible :) Í managed to recover mine before a spin, he went onto the grass.

You are right racer_d the traffic was a lot lighter due to the rain and this gives you a real chance to slow down and concentrate more on the lines and brake/turn points.

The next event is a Porsche only day on August 1st, that should be fun as I know there are already a few GT3RS signed up and they are awesome to watch. Hopefully can we get some of that Global Warming instead of the Global Soaking

Wow what great pics! I am trying to go to my first DE at the track. The first one is not until October in this area.

Not to hijack your thread, any suggestions on helmets? There is such a wide range and I have know idea what to look for but I have to have one by then.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

With regards to the helmet question, buy the best you can afford! Take a read of this, its from a UK site but is generally great advice and also mentions some of the US standards

Taking the car on track just opens your eyes to the capabilities of the machine, even a fairly standard one like mine.
