Dynoed my 987 Base boxster today :(
base Boxster 987 05.
HP 195.62
Torque 184
This is to the rear wheels.
Whats the real number in crank HP and torque?
According to the guy at the dyno 225 HP
and 198 torque.
pretty low Inumbers I think.....Its meant to be 240 HP and 201 torque.
Conditionds: 4,400 ft elevation
Fuel 89 octane
Mileage of the Car 8,500
I will put a AWE ehaust
Evo intake and dyno again.
Then a Giac chip and Dyno again.
I hope for the elevation and type of fuel I ran this mods will help.

No wonder it's low. You're running 89 oct gas? Should be using 93 oct. Is 89 the best you can do there? If so, I would be adding an octane booster if performance matters to you and it sounds like it does. Strangely enough, your TQ is unusually high for the 05 2.7L. Something doesn't seem to add up.

This was already with Prestone 0 to 60 octane booster
And that is our best fuel in Costa Rica
I was thinking of adding this.

Half a bottle per tank, that might raised to 93 octane
Any danger to the motor if I use this regularly??

Here in Australia i run 98 octane and its available everywhere.
Im sure that the problem....

98 oct is no better than 93 for our cars unless maybe you have forced induction or a higher compression ratio. You are wasting your money on expensive race gas.

I guess it depends on what percentage he's calculating the estimated drivetrain loss as. I'm not sure how accurate this number is, but many people usually estimate roughly 15% drivetrain loss. If we go by this number, then your 195.62whp would equate to roughly ~230HP at the crank.
Maybe the 89 octance had a bit to contribute and perhaps retarted the timing slightly.
Just for reference, my 2002 2.7L dyno'd at 194.9whp and 175.2lb-ft torque. This was on 91 octane.

Yes, I believe 'RandallNeighbour' did a baseline with his 97 2.5L and put down 169.27whp and 147.91lb-ft torque.

Don't let yourselves be fooled--Australia isn't getting some crazy awesome fuel that we don't have in the US.
Octane ratings are measured in many different ways. 98 octane in Australia is roughly equivalent to 93 octane.

And yes, motoadve, the 89 octane fuel you're using and the elevation would most definitely be affecting your horsepower rating on the dyno, however the tech that ran your dyno seems to have taken the standard "15% drivetrain loss" into account when saying that you're probably making only 225 horses.
That's an approximation only, and I have no idea how accurate it is. You also have the tiptronic transmission if I recall correctly. That would probably be sapping more power.
I wouldn't stress too much over the numbers. You seem pretty fixated about the amount of power that your car is putting out. If you were looking for high numbers, you've definitely bought the wrong car anyhow. Just drive the thing and be happy.

Its not race fuel here, as i said its sold everywhere and the Porsche dealerships recommend we use it.
We used to have supplied 100 octane but they stopped producing it....

At this elevation the performance is decent but when I drive at 6,000 or 7,000 feet, then feels slow.
If I could get the 240 HP at my elevation, I will be happy.
Many people use this to improve the octane of their cars here.
