What's left to cause a Check Engine Light?
I was wondering what could possibly be left to cause my Check Engine Light to go on.
I have had the mass airflow sensor replaced, a defective catalytic converter replaced, and a bad oil filler neck replaced. The funny thing is that I had my 75000 mile service done a few weeks ago and the car is running great. Thankfully, I have a good warranty but man the silly things like this can be agravating. |
did you get the code read?

I wish I had the time and the space to do the work myself but I am lucky that the service guy really does take care of me and he is honest. He could have ripped me for the catalytic converter and would have dropped a grand without knowing that it was under the 8/80 warranty. I have read about that happening to some of the members on this site. My post was more out of aggravation I guess. |

He's paid one way or another. If he has replaced that much in an attempt to fix your CEL then he doesn't know what he's doing, take it somewhere else. If it's under warranty then why not take it to the dealership? |

Yep. The Check Engine light is VERY general, and VERY not specific. Asking 'what could cause my CEL to come on?' is too broad a question. Get the code read, and come back and post the codes, then we might be able to tell you why the CEL came on! |

The repairs that I mentioned have spanned over the course of a year and a half. I have driven the car quite a bit as I logged 27000 miles during that time and my car is a 2000 so I expect things to need repairs here and there. I will let everyone know what the code reads when I bring it in tomorrow. Thanks for all the replies. |
