Seat Ajustement
Hi all, I got my 99 Boxster for almost a month now, the only thing I din't figure out is the Seat Height Ajustment..
I know there is a lever.. if I pull hard on it is seam to pull a spring of something, but I don't figure out how to change the height. Tryed to pull on the seat, push on it.. what exactly am I supposed to do? Here is a picture http://vipola.net/extlnk/bancporsche.jpg Thanks all.. and sorry for this dumb question.. maby the thing is broke, but I feel like I just don't understand how it's supposed to work..  |
First make sure the seat IS NOT in the full back position. The seat needs room for it to drop down into. Then pull the lever up while seated and apply as much weight to get the seat to go down.
When I bought my car it pump that adjusts the high was very very stiff and it took a good amount of weight to get it to go down. If that doesnt work then the lever might be broken somehow. Good Luck. ~James |
so I need to push it down and it will go up by itself?
maby I could get a few people sitting on each other to get it down :D thanks :) |

Yeah just pull the lever/handle up and sit in it. It should go down |
hahahaha.. I asked a friend of mine to sit in.. it's worked!
I was sure it was broken!.. Thanks!! |
Don't feel bad. I think when I started test driving Boxsters, it took me about 5 until I figured that stupid seat height adjustment lever out....
The ebrake needed for top movement was another 10 minutes of head scratching! |

NICE! I weighed 129lbs when I got my car and couldnt get that seat down for the life of me. I always had my dad sit in it after a carwash beacuse those guys always brought the seat up. |
Mine has the same problem, I have pushed it all the way down and it will automatically pop up, it wont stay in the same position. I noticed there is a shock looking mechanism under the seat, could that be the problem?
|
The shock mechanism is operated via a metal cable that connects near the front of the seat... you could always lift the seat to see if it is disconnected... to lift the seat you need an E12 socket... four screws each corner of the rails. When removed the entire seat will lift as far as the seat belt cable will reach until you detach that. (Don't detach it tough with the in the ignition or you will have to have your airbag light reset)...
