SD - CHP Laser Alert FYI

This is just an FYI for those forum members in San Diego.

Despite rumors of LIDAR in the greater LA area, I've never encountered it personally anywhere in SoCal and figured it would take awhile to come down to San Diego.

Apparently that time is now as I encountered a stationary bike-cop using laser this w/e. The location was at the base of the Coronado bridge on the island side that has a wide range of view of everyone coming off the bridge. Perhaps the officer was unable to get a quick hit as I'm not running a front plate but I wasn't ticketed despite being in the 71-75 range which I would image to be enough to warrant a ticket on that bridge.

But at any rate, I was of course surprised when the laser siren on the V1 was going off for a prolonged period of time as I've become conditioned to ignore it as a non-threat in these parts. I assume it was CHP as I don't recollect having ever seen a SD bike-cop (?) and they handle most of the vehicular code enforcement down here.

SD County Sheriff (sp?) runs many bike cops. Don't know if they help out down that way, as they contract-out all over the county. They ride HD bikes.
