Rear Spoiler button?

My 05 Boxster base came with a button that has the picture of the rear spoiler, when you press it goes up , then press again , goes down.

Is there any reason for this?
Any gains? or just to see the spoiler out?

Send a message via AIM to djomlas
when i wash the car i put it up so i can clean underneath it, otherwise as soon as you take off water goes right under there and all over your bumper.
also, if you want to take your bumper off, you need to raise it up as well...or just to show off to ur buddies

It's just manual override button for spoiler. Older models have a button on the fuse box which is harder to get to if you ever want to have the spoiler up. I added the spoiler button on my 99 center console for 2 reasons:
1. Want to replace all blank button with some functional button.
2. For ease of operating spoiler manually.

Can you post a photo of the Spoiler rocker switch you added?
