TIP/ignition woes

Just recently I have experienced the TIP selector when pushed forward into P, binding and the console shifts a bit. When this happens I cannot retrieve the key from the ignition switch. After working back and forth you can feel the lever go into park and then the key becomes free. The console does not shift when this happens, only occasionally does it have the binding feel and not fully seat forward. Any suggestions or cures? Can I still drive it for a few days as I have a Mon. morning appointment at the dealer to sort it out and am supposed to host the Rhinebeck Aerodrome drive this weekend. Will I get caught out if this problem seizes up and I cannot retract the key? Arrrgh!!!!
