Engine quit
The wife's 02 boxer just quit, she was going about 10 mph when engine started running rough for a few seconds then died.
I tryed to start it, but the starter dosent sound like it's engaging. Had it towed to local Repair shop they checked it out and found no compression in any cylinders. No oil anywhere so may I cross off IMS failure ? Its at the Porsche dealer waiting for the ins. co to authorize removing engine to find out whats wrong, only has 22,800 miles on it. Anybody have a similar problem, any help or ideas would be appreciated. |
Did the engine puke all it's oil? Usually, that is the sure sign of IMS failure.
Sad, this seems to be happening more and more, at least as reported on here on the forum. Please keep us posted. :( |

Will keep you all updated, thanks. |
No compression in ANY cylinders? That is VERY strange indeed. Keep us posted!

Sorry to hear. Keep us posted. Why is an insurance company involved?

Lack of oil on the ground is not necessarily a guarantee that the engine didn't grenade. At least mine didn't when it went....
When you get the new (or used) engine make sure you get at least a 1-2 year warranty on it. Oh, and be prepared to go without your Box for around a month so a loaner vehicle is probably due you as well. |
