Is this a good deal?

I am looking into a 2000 or 2001 Boxster. There is (what seems to be) a good deal at my local Porsche dealer. Although they seem to be high on most cars, let me know what you think of this one:

2001 Boxster
red/beige (red would not be my first choice)
5 speed
driver computer thingy
CD changer
just over 30,000 miles
perfect condition, and comes with warranty (powertrain up to 100,000 miles? is this right?)

going for @ $29,500

i was originally interested in a 99, but changed my mind to a 2000 because of you good people cluing me in to the 2.7L motor. What is the HP/torque difference between the 99 and the 00/01 models?

basically i am looking for the best deal for under $30K -- and i need a smoking deal becuase my loan only covers 85% of retail blue book. so i want to pay as little out of pocket as possible.

Thanks a lot!!!!!

richard

$29.5K is a bit expensive. I would look more before deciding. For the same kind of money you can get a Boxster S. I just did a quick search on autotrader.com and came up with a lot of 00'-01' Boxsters across the nation that are around $30k. This is an example:
http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?num_records=&car_id=164498515&make=POR&model=BOXSTE&transmission=&distance=any&address=13205&advanced=n&certified=n&max_mileage=&subseries=&max_price=30000&dealer_id=66574&sort_type=&max_records=&first_record=226&end_year=2005&color=&start_year=2000&drive=&engine=&body_style=&advcd_on=n&doors=&fuel=&&ac_afflt=none

The 2.5L engine is has 201 HP. The 2.7L has 227 HP I think. The 3.2L has around 250 HP.

I think could be a good deal if the car is in great condition. You'd be surprised the differences in condition which don't relate to mileage. Pay particular attention to the top fabric & window.

Most Porsche owners take good care of their cars, but an increasing number are being leased which I think sucks.

Too bad we aren't closer; I'd sell you my 2001/24K miles for $30K and it is literally a concours winner.
