Push Start?

I'm getting ready for my first road trip in my Boxster and was reading about the problem of getting the hood open if the battery is dead. Can anyone tell me:

1. If the car is locked when the battery dies, can I open the door? (It sounds like it from the posts I've read, or there would be more about getting into the car instead of just the trunk)

2. Can I simply push start the car, as I've done with all my other manual transmission vehicles?

1. Take the little metal thing you push into the ignition. Insert it into the slot next to the outside door handle. Rotate. Pull up on the door handle. The door will open.

2. Roll starting should work fine.

This was my hope. Seems like it would have been handy to build this [cough] feature into the hood. :D

Thanks.

I have had that problem, you can open the door with the key, I could not get the car to jump start. I had to trickle charge the battery thru the Cig lighter and open the hood with the normal way when there was enough of a charge to release the hood release.
