Spoiler poll

I like it. Of all the spoilers/wings I've seen that one is in my top 3.

Im neutral on this one James, I think it looks good from those angles pictures but not all the angles are as flattering as those 2 pictured. I prefer the Cayman style spoiler.

Your "NO" option is a little harsh...
I don't know that the Boxster merits a spoiler. I like it without one. ...And I hate it when people put their spoilers up to take pictures... (pre-03) It looks like a misplaced appendage -clearly functional and I, for one, am glad it only comes up at a time when I can't see it. It's like walking around with toilet paper stuck on your shoe -it's best if you don't know about it! |

BUT, i do like that spoiler, but then i like the poerformance products one, and the caymen style, the bench one im no all that fan of |
The shape of the boxster is so retro-like to the classic spyders from the past. That is what makes it a beautiful Porsche. When a car is designed as nicely as the Boxster is then that is a work of art that should not be messed with. I don't see anything wrong with upgrading the wheels or the convertible top but I don't see how you are making the car better or better looking with a spoiler that just looks unnatural to the Boxster.
The 911 / Carrerra variants have the race car heritage and those are the cars that should be messed with to improve downforce and handling with wings and spoilers. Especiallay if you are tracking it or racing it. Just my honest opinion |
I voted yes but I should qualify that by saying that I would not put it on my car...the point being that I think it looks Ok...but I like the lines of the back of this car so much that I would not add anything to the top half of the rear at all...if anything I think the lower spoiler that some have added to the 986 looks good, but nothing else.

I like it.. I have no mechanical wing.

I've never been a fan of that spoiler. I think it is way to big. Looks like a half eaten vinella waffer sitting on the back. The spoiler should stay somewhat small and fit nicely between the rear tailights. Remember, "less is more!" I like the Cayman style spoiler and had that one on my car before it cracked, but went with a fixed spoiler because I like how it makes the rear look different from the front roundness of the car. When the Boxster was first introduced people said the rear and the front looked way to similar. When the factory spoiler raises it closes up the opening between fixed spoiler on my car, creating even more down-force. This is how the newer sport package works for the Cayman.
