EVO Shift Linkage Problem - 986 Forum - The Community for Porsche Boxster & Cayman Owners

I am installing a B&M short shifter along with an EVO billet shift linkage and have run into mission impossible. First half of install has been a piece of cake but now I cannot get the EVO linkage onto the ball at the bottom of the shifter. I have tried pressing, pounding, and even swearing but to now avail. What is the trick to getting this on?

The joint is a very tight fit. Have someone hold the shift tower steady, and another person pound the shift link on with a plastic mallet.

Thanks Tool Pants. Mission accomplished. It just took someone holding it so I could get a few good wacks on it. I LOVE the short shifter. What a difference.

Steve, now that you have had the short shift kit and shift linkage installed for a couple of weeks, how do you like the way the car shifts?

I am planning on installing the same setup in a few weeks.

I love it. My wife loves it too. The first time you drive it the throw will feel so incrediblaby short but you quickly get used to it and it feels pretty natural now. It is a little bit notchier but not in a bad way. I guess it feels more precise with no sloppiness. The only down side is I occasionally will fumble a bit getting it into first from neutral. Overall, I feel that is well worth the money and has further enhanced an already fanatastic driving experience.
