Emission control warning light
What does this light mean??
|
The owner's manual of my '99 describes no "Emission control warning light."
Do you mean the "Check engine" light? If so, the manual says it suggests 1) a potential engine control problem ... 2) an improperly fastened (fuel) filler cap 3) refuelling with the engine running All of the warning lights are described in the owner's manual. If you do not have one, you should get one. They are available through the parts dept. of any Porsche dealer. |
While it wasn't a Porsche, I had my check engine light come on in the Audi I used to have and the mechanic told me it was an emission control problem. I asked him what would happen if I didn't fix it. He told me nothing really unless I had to pass some sort of emissions test. It seemed to come on more in cold weather when I was running the heater. I never did actually figure it out.
