Convertible top motor

Can anyone post a picture of where the convertible top motor is located. My top is starting to go up slowly up and down I suspect that it is only a matter of time before I am stuck witht the top stuck open.

I don't have a picture, but the motor is located just ahead of your third brake light (closer to the front of the car vs. behind the lamp).

It has two cables that come out of it headed around the side of the engine compartment to the top transmission(s).

It is basically a screw-type mechanism that twists a wire inside the cables eminating from it that power the transmission on each side to move the clamshell and raise and lower the top.

Hope this helps!

Not hard to replace, but one must be very careful when putting in the transmission cables because they must be timed perfectly or the clamshell and top will not rise or retract at the same time... causing top frame and clamshell damage

It would be very prudent for you to purchase a Bentley repair manual for the boxster, which can be secured from Amazon.com for this and future repairs.
