dielectric grease

Anyone think this is a good idea when reconnecting plugs after disconnecting them?

Hi,

Dielectric Grease typically had 2 functions in Car ignition systems. It provided a lubrication such as to a Distributor Shaft Cam and also to waterproof a connection such as a Spark Plug Boot.

While it certainly wouldn't hurt to use it, there wouldn't really be any benefit either.

With Coil-on-Plug, and the recessed Heads, there is already a watertight seal. And, again with the CoP, you don't need to lubricate it because you have a much larger surface to grip and separate the CoilPak from the Plug. Hope this helps...

How about connectors, especially critical electronics like DME, after disconnecting them?

Thanks

Hi,

Sure, you could. Again, I think it's unecessary really. You don't want that Grease attracting dirt/dust to the connector, so I wouldn't use very much...
