100% Supima Cotton
 

Well this Saturday I will be waxing my car for the first time.

I took the recommendation off the ZainoStore website to get 100% American Made (supima) cotton towels. They aren't fieldcrest since they went out of business and Bed, Bath and Beyond didn't carry Cannon. They were $14.99 a piece hope they're okay. Any thoughts on these before I use them?

Sounds marginally acceptable. I would say you have to really spend at least $25.00 to get a decent towel to clean a Porsche.
Better go to Nieman Marcus if there is one in your area.

I was just going based on what the Zaino store said to use. They said generally the towels that are truly 100% cotton are between $10 and $20.

Thanks for taking my comment the way I intended. No criticism of your towel selection intended.
Sometimes Porsche owners tend to take themselves (and their cars) just a wee bit too seriously. Including me I suppose, as I am currently attacking my Box with tooth brush and Q-tip in preparation for an upcoming car show.
I'll have to take a look at the web site you noted. Maybe I'll go hunt for a 100% Supima Cotton towel myself.

Just keep a watch on the finish as you first use them (and wash & take off any tags from them before first use). If you have a section of the car that is scratch and swirl-free, check it again right after you use the towel. If you don't see any new scratches/swirls, then you're golden. My (white) Fieldcrest towels were puchased at [horror!]Wal-Mart[/horror] and they have been fine. Sal loves to drive the point home about the towels! I've also used Microfiber to polish out the Zaino with good results.

I think just about everyone takes themselves too seriously every now and then. Just wish more of us would be able to laugh about it later if you know what I mean. Good luck at the show. :cheers:

Back to the subject, the towels worked great. The car is washed, clay barred, washed, and Z5 polished for the first layer.

Checked the car for swirls like you said donv and all is well!

Layers 2 and 3 will be tomorrow with Z2. I'm beat for now.

I have used the Zaino stuff for about 2 years -- awesome shine/depth. I have to admit, I am a switcher as I also use Zymol Concours for some added protection (Zainos gives great shines, but does not seem to last or offer paint protection (imho)).

I have found microfiber towels are the ultimate as they are totally lint-free. I seem to like the products at autofanatics.com

I spent about 6 hours on my 2001 Lapis Blue today (wife is out of town, thus "extra-time" on my hands!!!!)
