Re: Which is Better Deal

You might want to look at the listings on cars.com. There are 873 Boxsters listed for sale, nationwide. You should be able to get a good idea of competitive pricing, remembering that asking prices are almost always a little high, and a long list of options don't usually add much to the value of the car.
The Kelly Blue Book prices on the net seem to me to always be 'way high, the cars.com Black Book prices similar but less so.
I like the NADA used car guide prices the best, I guess because they tend to be the lowest. At least that's how I looked at it when I was buying.
You are definately looking at the best color combination.

Other than the extra year on warranty I'd go with the 2000 between those two. Roughly the same price, much better miles and much better options.

Good luck!

I prefer heated seats and PSM - because upgraded suspension and 18" wheels can be added later.

In reality, I'd look for a car that combines these two.
I have upgraded suspension, 18" wheels, heated seats & PSM and consider those the 'essentials' for my car.

P.S. the 'S' and 6-speed are also essential

The 2001 S is the better deal with the heated seat and PSM. These options can't be added later unless you spend thousands of dollars. You can add the 18" wheels later even get them from Ebay if you so desire. I don't know where you live but you can have like I do a set of tires for the winter 17" and a set for the summer 18" with the Carrera alloys.
Good luck whichever car you choose!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon it depends on what you're after...looks? Personally I love the tri-spoke wheel as opposed to the ugly flat one (which is in my boxster)...or are you going more for the thrill of driving it, and the experience? I'd go for the 2000 S, and even though PSM is great, I don't think you'll get yourself into that much trouble with the 3.2 L engine.

If all else fails, go to a track day or find an isolated parking lot and find out where the limits for your car are, and you won't have to worry about PSM as much.

Also, where do you live? If you live in the north, then heated seats and PSM would help in the winter with snow, but down south you probably wouldn't need heated seats as much, or the PSM.

Again, figure out what YOU are looking for, and make yourself a sort of "dream boxster" and then compare whatever else you find to your ideal car. Whichever matches the best, well....you'll have your answer.

Cheers, and good luck!
