Wheel spacer question
 

I'm thinking of getting wheel spacers but have several questions. Seen Stryker's Boxster with 5MM and he has 18" wheels - very nice by the way!

1) What are the advantages/disadvantages of wheels spacers?

2) Are they easy to install without taking it to a pro and how long will it take?

3) What should I look out for when I install them?

4) My 2000 Boxster S has the 17" classic sport wheels. Can you make a recommendation on the spacer widths for front and rear wheels without rubbing?

5) I think Porsche, H&R and Eibach sells wheel spacers. Who would you recommend and where????

To be honest with you, I would take the wheel spacer money and apply it towards a set of 18" wheels first. 17's do not do the car justice at all and would not fill your wheels well so the spacers are useless. You would also need bigger spacers since the 17's have a smaller offset. Go for a bigger, wider wheel and then see if you need spacers. I did 18x10 in the rear and 18x8.5 in the front.

If you did put spacers on a 17" wheel you would need bigger spacers to compensate for the offset. I think that going over 5mm will affect the weight distribution and have a negative impact on the wheel bearings over time. Get new wheels first! :)

Thanks for the info Stryker... wish I would've bought your wheels/tire setup since it was such a great deal. I will have to wait awhile before buying new wheels/tires as we might expect new baby.

I ended up selling them for almost $500 more than what I offered you. :rolleyes:
