Treatment or protectant advice
Hi all,
Some questions if I may, please: 1. What stuff should I use or what do you usually use to protect or prolong the lifespan of the weather sealant (the black rubber that seals between the window and outside air/water, etc)? 2. What stuff should I use or what do you usually use to protect the windshield wiper (the black painted metal) from rust, acid rain etc? I tried to do a search about this topic but I couldn't seem to find it. Any advice is much appreciated. Threpwood |
I use
303 protectant on my rubber stuff, even cv boots.
Side note, I also use gel on my wiper blades, same gel as I use on my tires. |
I use this every couple of months.
http://openroadmotoring.com/104017.html this is what I use on exterior black plastic like the windshield plastic, window trim and rear bumperretes. It seems to lasts the longest http://detailcity.com/poorboys-trim-restorer.html you can repaint the wipers yourself using the dupli-color trim spray http://www.duplicolor.com/products/bumper.html |
I wax the metal wipers....same wax I use on the car Collinite #845 and/or Collinite #915.
I just use Turtle Wax 2k stuff on the plastic. I would use the 303 stuff, but it isnt in stores here. |
The Honda dealer I worked at used silicone spray on all the rubber trim, but they wouldn't use it on CV boots (bcause replacing CV boots was big $$ for the mechs). I use silicone on the CV boots and weatherstripping.
I don't pay special attention to the wiper arms, but I have repainted several sets on others cars with much success. |
Thanks for all of the advice!
