Question for the wheel fitment gurus

What type of spacers are needed, if any, for a set of 18x8.5et 52mm fronts and 18x10et 65mm rears to fit a 2001 base 986? Tires sizes are 225/40/ZR18 and 265/35/ZR18. This offset and spacer thing is a mystery to me. Thanks.

Your fronts should be fine, in the back you'll need some spacer to reduce the 65mm of offset down to somewhere between 40 and 47 (subtrack the thickness of the spacer from 65 to get to your new offset). The Porsche recommended offset seems to be 47, but some of the experts here say more like 44 is ideal. I'm fitting 40mm offset 18x10s with 285/30s this week so I'll have more info on that in a few days.

probably going to need an inch spacer back there... could get away with a 24mm and maybe a 15mm... but at least probably a 24mm

May want to reconsider the tire sizes for those wheels. The sizes you list are std 18s but for 7.5 and 9.0 wheels. You could be stretching a 225/40 on an 8.5. Might want to consider going with a 245/40. The 265/35 will work with a 10 but may look odd. Most forum members recommend a 285/30 but that cuts down on your manufacturer options and adds about $100 per tire over a 265/35. I went with a 275/35 on a 10 and it looks fine.

My new tires / wheels go on tomorrow. New pics coming soon.
