|
That is cool. I could not draw a stick-man with photoshop.
|
nicly done id.
That is an atractive color on the box, it's no General Lee, but still real nice :p . I like the second take on the sceem. |
ummmmm actually not a fan of that orange! I saw another boxster posted on this site that was orange and stunning...
|
The color orange ROCKS! Here is an old thread about orange cars:

Sorry, but lamborghini orange is trademarked. Unless you own a lambo, your out of luck, or in my friends case... your dad owns the lambo dealership, lol.
|
That color orange it way to bright! If you were racing all of the time on a track I could understand the color on your car, but you should think about the newer matalic colors being used called "Burnt Orange". The new PORSCHE Targa comes in this type of color. So do some of the newer 350 Z cars. That car orange that is on your porsche reminds me to much of FAST & FURIOUS. Way to ricey.

Nope. He is right about the trade mark colors. I work for Interstate Batteries and we have our green color trademarked. It looks allot like Kawasaki green. Which is to say, that if you search around hard enough, you can most likely find a paint color that is NOT trade marked but looks like a close enough match. ;) |
If I go to my paint supplier, they will scan and reproduce any color I bring in. In the case of one of my MGs, I didn't even know what the color was. They scanned it and matched it perfectly. If I brought them an Interstate Battery, they would scan it and match it. If I brought them an orange Lambo, they'd scan it and match it as well.

Thanks all for the comments ...good and bad... :)
new additions closer to burnt orange and less halloween orange in my initial post... :D In regards to trademarked colors, all it takes is one digit +/- on the RGB scale or Pantone chart and you have visually the same color but not the trademarked one. Although, I would guess, even if you used the same exact color, unless you are in a competing business to the company that uses that color and using it in a similar way they probably aren't going to make a big deal of it. |

What type of MG's do you have? I have some good friends who've restored TC's, TD's, TF's and newer models for decades. They are fun cars. ddb |
I had a couple of Bs and one very nice Midget. I don't have any of them anymore. They were just too unreliable to be fun. After 15 years of ownership, I finally sold the Midget in April and replaced it with the Boxster.
I'd love to post a picture of the Midget, but I don't have any digitals. I'll scan something and put it up for you. The car won several National awards. I saved it from the crusher. I should have let it perish. It was an ungrateful little Brit. |
Here you go. It wasn't a TC or TD, but you gotta admit, the restoration was pretty nice, thank you very much.

Wow! That is one nice Midget! Did you do the restoration yourself?
My friends are a father and son team. They did tons of T-cars from the mid 70's - early 90's. They always drove Midgets MGB-GT's, etc. They are serious British car restorers and master mechanics. With all of that knowledge and know-how it is hard to get them to work on (or drive) those old cars now. Their business went from the restorations to 95% collision work nowadays. Thanks for posting the pic! ddb |
Thanks for the compliment!
Yes, I did that entirely myself. In fact, I even did that paint job. The car had been finished for several years. One day, I had it parked in the driveway at my last house. A contractor was on the roof over the garage trying to locate a leak. He slipped, fell off and landed on the hood/cowl/windshield of the Midget. I have a friend who's an outstanding painter and he convinced me that he could teach me body work and paint, so I could fix the damage to the Midget myself. I took a few weeks of vacation (five), and under his close supervision, stripped, straightened, blocked, painted, wet sanded and buffed the entire car, to include engine compartment, jambs, and wheel wells! I now have the ultimate respect for body men. It's hard work. The Midget was the perfect car to learn on because it's so small. I said I'd never paint another car, but I'm going to paint my current 912 project myself, at home. I never learn. |
Tardemark?
You have got to be kidding me...Trademarks are only if you are going to SELL it and make money from it... You can use the color all you want... It just means that other car companies cant use that color..
You probably cant buy that color from them directly, but you can make it yourself or have it mixed for you. Porsche has a trademark on there name and crest...if I were to paint a picture of the crest and name, they cant do anything about it because its artistic expression...and I am not making any money from using their symbols. |
thanks for the great work man! unfortunately im am trying to finish college before getting my first Pcar, so im still in the dreaming phase. you guys only make the desire stronger and harder to resist!
My Box will however be some color like the burnt orange with the black rims and body color lip. I agree that the Lambo color is too LOUD, but it was the first pic i could find of the wheel and paint setup i want. |
