Radio problem

I have searched and cant seem to find an answer. I have an 01 with the hi-fi cd-220 and I cannot get the door speakers to work. I have tried everything as far as the fading goes. Is there an option on th HU that turns off the door speakers? I couldn't find anything in the Becker manual that says there is. Help!

Hi,

First thing to do with any Porsche Radio problem is to remove the Faceplate and clean the contacts both on the Faceplate and the Headunit with a Q-tip and Isopropanol (Rubbing Alcohol). The Faceplate is a computer and all the controls feed through it to the headunit.

If for instance the the Bass Level Control contacts are corroded or dirty, the Headunit may interpret that as Bass Level '0'. Since the Door Speakers are Bass Speakers, you would not get any sound from them.

This isn't a guaranteed fix, but so many Becker (Porsche) Radio problems are solved by cleaning these contacts, that it's the first place you should start. Hope this helps...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
