Check out this Spoiler - LOL

I would be afraid to drive this car too fast, it might start flying. What was this guy thinking

damn that car is beautiful tho, wheels and interior conbo, but wtf is up w the wing, he cant be serious.
nice wheels choice, nice car, and then a 5 dollar wing offf ebay

z12358 03-20-2007 01:20 PM

Yes, the ridiculous wing aside, that black 987 looked great with those wheels. It only needs some rear spacers and a 1/2 inch lowering to make it perfect.

rdancd816 03-20-2007 01:24 PM

I think the car is trying to look like the new GT3 RS. That car has a wing that is very similar and is factory. It's carbon fiber and adjustable. But that looks horrible on a Boxster...

racer_d 03-20-2007 01:30 PM

Nice wing ;)

I hope its supported from underneath, otherwise, with any serious downforce it creates, you can expect to dent the trunk lid.

Then again, its likely for show and not go...

djomlas 03-20-2007 02:01 PM

carbon fiber or not, factory or not, that wing looks retarted as hell on there

rdancd816 03-20-2007 02:02 PM

Here's a pic. 2007 GT-3 RS

Theres a huge difference there. I love 911 wings and love them big (to an extent, that ruf one is over the top). I want a 911 with a cup wing. What your comparing is like putting a whale tail on a boxster. Different car designs and the boxster wasnt designed for big wings, the 911 was. And yes its denting the lid, look at the reflections in the pics.

It's impossible to tell from pictures, but it doesn't look like the standard integrated spoiler has been disabled or modified in any way. I wonder if it still goes up/down at the appropriate speeds. Not only would that look completely jacked if it was still operational, it would be pretty funny if the the spoiler spoiled the downforce from the wing combining to make the back-end extra squirrelly. (probably wouldn't be the case, but I'm sure someone would know what a wing + spoiler would do).

rdancd816 03-20-2007 02:22 PM

No disagreement from here. The wing in the picture is on a factory delivered 2007 GT3 RS. I was shown the car at my local dealership and the buyer had been waiting for it for several years. My point is the 987 pictured is attempting to emulate the look. I agree it is real dumb looking and not appropriate for a Boxster. But to each his own. The Box in question looks pretty cool sans the wing!

Not only is the wing nice, but that is one of those Boxster S's with the "convertible roof." That should make it even more desirable. Good thing he pointed out that feature in the eBay listing...

In the words of Crocodile Dundee, "That's not a wing... THIS is a wing!"

That is a fine looking car, except for the wing. And evidently it isn't much of a performance mod because it bumps the 0-60 time up to 6.25 sec, if you read their specs.

silverboxter 03-20-2007 04:24 PM

hahaha! i don't think i'd put that on my boxster....afraid it would pull the trunck lid straight off! ; )

I think that is a misprint. A wing like that should push the car to run 6.25 seconds in the quarter mile, not 0-60.

Hi,

I bet that thing was bought at auction as a Repo... the owner spent himself all the way to reposession with all that junk on it...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
