AutoX rubber advice

I want to autoX here http://www.ssccmedford.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=27&Itemi d=48

I'm looking to have some fun, and would like to know if I should get specific tires for this (which would mean wheels too, which probably means a wheel trailer, M030...etc..) or will my 35% Conti. sport Contact 2 hold up to 2 days, or 10 times around?

I am planning on getting some street rubber after anyways.

BTW, I'm a total beginner. If I am smooth, can I get through it, and drive back 300mi? ;)

Sport Contacts are ok, but better suited to street duty. Pilot sport 2's would be a good choice if you want a tire that works well on the street and the track. If you want an even more track oriented tire then the Pilot cups would be a great choice.

1) Looks like a fun place to go AXing!

2) In time, once you are hooked, you will have a second (and 3rd) set of rims. You will likely get a small tire trailer or simply trailer your car to events. It is indeed, a slippery slope (and fun, btw!)

3) If you haven't autocrossed, stick with the car as is. See how bad the tires get used up. If you think it worth the $500-1000 for another set of 17" twists, and then the $800-1100 for tires, go for it!

4) for the most part, if you still have the stock alignment, you will notice tire wear around the outside shoulder of the front tires most, then a bit on the rears, but otherwise you should be fine.

5) I drive 300+ miles to track events on my "track tires" without fear. As long as you have some tread, have some fun!

I say use up the tires that you have. Just keep a close eye on the out side edges of the tires (they will cord if you are not careful). Most of all have FUN!!!!!
