rear flaps...wow
i noticed that one of them was sitting a little uneven, so i unscrewed it and saw some dirt, i said to myself let me just clean it up inside there, expecting like maybe a little rock and few grains of dirt cought, but check out how much came out...just out of that one side :eek:

have you removed the transmission debris sheild, usually theres lots of debris stuck there from past oil leaks. also on the most rear plastic cover under the car., Have you looked where your battery is... should be a good half a pound of leafs in there.

when i was flushing the coolant i took all the protective covers off the car and a lot of stuff came out, but somehow i never got to this little part, it looks so small, hard to believe that so much stuft can fit in there lol
and yes, there was a lot of leaves in the battery area, cleaned that as well :) good call |
When I put my side skirts on, I had a ton of crap fall from the mud guards too. At least I dont need those mud-gathering things anymore!

I'm gonna have to take a look under there when I get her out of storage... might as well give her a thurough spring cleaning!

I have a 914, too, and part of maintenance on that car is removing the rocker panels every few months and dumping out the piles of debris thrown up from the wheels. Didn't know I'd picked up a similar task when I got my Boxster. A wet mixture of the kind of debris shown in the picture in this thread is how rust gets started.

+1 on cleaning the front radiators. I used a shop vac with the long plastic extension and it worked great. Filled the shop vac about 6" deep with leaves from the previous owner...
Not a lot of weight but good for cooling, etc. Jeff |
