removing the boxster spare tire bolt?

How do you remove the porsche boxster spare tire bolt? I took the spare tire out for more room / less weight and the bolt still sticks out and its like locked in there from behind. I'm sure a few of you have removed this!

Its just kind of slid in there. You will have to remove the carpeting is all. Have fun.

Bogg,

it looks like if I remove the carpeting and the amp and all that fun stuff in the way that its locked in from behind. Like theres metal and a hole in it and the bolt comes in from behind. Can you remove it just by removing the carpet then getting to it from the front?

Mine just went in from the front and slid into place. Try grabbing it and going directly up, down, right and left with it and see if it dislodges from the metal behind it.

It just needs a good yank in one direction or the other if it's the same design as mine.

BAM! Got it! I combined what both of you said, I kind of lifted up the carpet from below , I didnt want to unbolt the amp and cd changer, there you can see that it needs slid to the left cause theres a bigger metal piece its attached to that holds it in from behind. I dont think you can remove it with the carpet there as the hole in the carpet is not as big as the metal piece so if you just kinda slip your arm up there behind the carpet and peel back the carpet then you can slide it out.

Hope this helps somebody in the future!

Randall,

I read your FAQ page twice now! Great stuff. This little red clip, Porsche service is going to have this in stock for $5? I'll be amazed if they carry something thats under $100 and actually in stock!

How do the motion sensors work once that clip is in? Is it over sensative? These are motion sensors that would activate normally when the top was up?

Also I see that you want a "K&N cold induction system" . Can you give me a link to this? On K&N's website it only lists a filter and oil filter for the boxster! Know how much horsepower it adds / fuel economy?

The bolt removes by sliding it towards the passenger side.

Porsche says you are to be warned that the spare tire is part of the crash protection.
