Engine Parts before I scrap it?

*Closed* ...but external parts that I have removed are available.
I have a 2000 3.2L engine and a 2001 2.7L engine that I plan to haul away for scrap soon. I started pulling apart the 3.2L, thinking about selling a head, the IMS shaft and a few other parts on eBay. I decided it's not worth the hassle of eBay. Both engines ran when pulled, but had a rod knock. Non-ferrous metal in the 3.2L and a bit of everything in the 2.7L's oil.

Want anything? Let me know and I'll figure out if it's available and a price. Shipping to USA addresses only.

I plan to have these both gone to scrap by December.

I need the 3.2 short block..? the one I have has a big hole in the top of it..? Thanks Frank

Hi Frank, If we can work out a way to ship it at your expense, you can have it. There's a slight possibility that I can have my son haul it to Phoenix when he heads there around Christmas. I have no idea if it makes any sense to use it for a rebuild, but there are no holes in it other than those intended by Porsche. I'm super busy from now through Thanksgiving, then I have some days off to figure things out.

If your boy brings the 3.2 to Phoenix could I chip in and get the 2.7?

It would probably be too much weight having both in the back of his SUV. How much of the 2.7L are you looking for? That engine is in pretty rough shape.

It’s not even the right one for my car, don’t worry about it.
Just thought it might be fun to play with and hate to see these go to waste. But if it’s too far gone that’s different.
Thanks

I'm going to go ahead and scrap both engines. I checked with my son, and hauling a block to Phoenix with his three kids in the car and a weeks worth of baggage is not going to work.

willing to pay expenses and shipping for the 3.2 ? Thank's Frank

I have not had time to haul it away for scrap yet. If I can get time this week to pull the heads off and clean it up it may be practical to ship. I still expect that it will need to be fully torn down and have the bearings replaced on the crankshaft at least, but the case, sleeves, pistons and rods may still all be good. ...no guarantee. I'll let you know by Friday if it looks like I can get it to you.

Thank's !!! for re-considering ..Frank

Temp sensor pigtail

Hi! I am looking for a temperature sensor with pigtail. Would have to be the 4-prong version. I know that this usually stays with the car, but just in case....

Hi Uwe, I checked what I have available and none of them have the 4-pin version.

Uwe, are you still here? I saw this connector on a cut up VW or Audi harness today. Is that the 4 pin you need?

Frank, I removed the heads and the block is still too much for my son to bring to Arizona. I can break it down further and ship the case halves at your expense without the carrier. Would that be useful?

flmont 12-23-2023 07:57 PM

Yes Sir..it sure would be..!

flmont 12-23-2023 07:59 PM

But if you dont want to break it down any further..I will take it as it sit's..? Thank's

Merry Christmas.

For me it's a lot easier to break it down in the evenings and ship it in a box or two than to make a pallet and deal with a freight shipment. If you can arrange for someone to come to my house and haul it away, Id be happy to let you have it all.

I'll plan to break it down and send the case halves with FedEx or UPS.

flmont 12-26-2023 08:59 AM

I would agree..I really only need the case..So the easier the better..! Thank's ! Frank

Merry Christmas,..to you and your's..also !

78F350 01-07-2024 10:29 AM

Frank, I'll send a PM soon, but I'm ready to pack and ship the case halves as soon as I have an address. Still in my opinion you are better off economically buying a good replacement engine, but if you want to rebuild it yourself I'll do what I can to help out.

Message sent to flmont asking for shipping address.
While I patiently wait for a reply, here's a picture of what was wrong with that engine. #5 rod bearing:

Not sure if I'd want to reuse that crankshaft, but I can salvage a couple pistons w/rods if needed.
