WTB Transmission mounts

A pair. For a 98 Tiptronic. With the bracket(s) attached. Lower mileage preferable. Your price for a pair Including shipping to 92284, regular USPS.

I just want to unbolt the old, and plug in the replacements. I'm not interested in buying just the mount and installing it to my existing bracket(s). For now. ;)

Who has a pair? Post your price, or PM me. Worst case scenario... you have the driver's side.

Thank you.

I'm still looking for theTiptronic transmission mounts for the 98... preferably with the bracket installed.

I saw this part, absent the bracket, on Pelican:

Looks like a deal for the "pair" (I've contacted Pelican/chat for conformation.

I'm finding the parts numbers confusing as well... as I've looked on eBay... but confused.

Exactly which parts do I need? I'm sorry... I just find it confusing.

Will these mounts work on the Tiptronic? The price is right... but r o c k a u t o doesn't show a listing for the automatic. Are the parts interchangeable?

The X's should read r o c k a u t o, no spaces.

Thanks fellas. I appreciate any input.

OK. Nothing. It's not a hugely popular part. So what I now request is opinion and, more specifically, a recommendation between my two choices.

Polluted I have become by the plethora of information and opinions gleaned from reviewing products and opinions from upon this and other forums.

I'm looking at two products. The reason I have selected these parts is because I don't want to go the Porsche part route... nor Rein.

The two parts are the WEVO SS mount for the 98 Tiptronic and the Function First transmission mount upgrade. From $310 to $325 for the pairs.

I've read about the vibration and harshness. I can handle a little vibration, as I am the primary driver.

I'd like to move quickly on this repair, for I don't want to suffer the con$equences associated with the failed mount.

Opinions and thoughts welcomed. Thank you.

OK. One more question and then I'm going to abandon this mother****************er.

The Rein transmission mount... part # 993.375.049.09. Will that work for the Tiptronic transmision on my 98? I don't want to go the spendy route and, upon the Pelican site for repairs... they suggest that part number but, unless I'm ****************ing blind (I am) I se nothing about it working for the Tiptronic.

Could someone help a brutha out? ****************.

Jim, No.

But if I had one in the garage, I'm sure I could make it fit.
Tip vs manual is not an issue. Only the brackets are different.

...and later when I was looking for something else I found this:

You have wrenches? I'd have to charge you $180/hr labor to put the mount on the bracket for the Tip'.

Seriously, I think you're better buying a new pair of ~$150 ones or shopping around for some under $100 ea instead of buying a 20 year old one.

Thank you, 78.

New it shall be. So...

Hamberg Technic... or the Rein? There's a difference of about ~$75 for the pair with which I'm OK.

I'll wait on your recommendation then ordering the pair you choose. Hamberg or Rein? Thank you.

Also... I know that removing my existing mounts from the brackets is going to be a pain... and am considering having a shop remove the old ones (unless you have a removal recommendation?). Do you think I should source a pair of brackets? I then would remove from the car the existing brackets and mounts... install the new mounts to the sourced brackets... plug them in... and toss the old?

I appreciate your input. Thank you.:cheers::cheers:

Are you familiar with 'The Office'?

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02/same1677436124.jpg

I don't expect there's enough difference between the two to make the more expensive one worth the cost. AOS, Coolant Tank, Water Pump - I go with Original. This I'm not so worried.

I'll post some info about doing the replacement later. I have an '01 Tiptronic in the garage right now and will get a look at it, but if I remember correctly, taking the bracket off with the mount is the way.

You've already read the PelicanParts Tech article? Here's all I have to add:

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1677473477.jpg

Torques can be found here along with some other misc info: http://986forum.com/forums/diy-project-guides/63154-replacing-rear-suspension-bracket.html

I enjoy hanging out in the garage and listening to audio books and music. If you dread time in the garage, pay someone to do it.

Starter986 02-27-2023 04:38 AM

Thank you 78. I'll go with the Hamburg, and I'll be wrenching them off/on/in... pay myself $140 an hour. ;)

Thank you for the information and direction. I just wanted to be confident in the purchase.

The Office. That's rich. lol
