Last Call before the Scrap Yard

I have a 2001 Tiptronic base model that has already been picked clean of the usual parts. It's going to the scrap yard soon. If you want any easy to ship parts, wiring & connectors, screws & bolts let me know.

Shipping to US addresses only.

Pm sent to you!

78F350 05-19-2022 04:11 PM

PM received. It's in good condition with no sign of damage. I'll message back details after I remove it and figure out shipping. Probably going with FedEx and total price will be shipping cost rounded up to the nearest $5.

robdelorenzo 05-19-2022 09:34 PM

That sounds great!
Please let me know.

JayG's is shipped. Rob's is just about ready to send. I'm pulling the front brakes for RedTele58 and that's about all the brake parts that are left unless you want the reservoir and booster.

I'm still pulling off stuff that is easy to remove and keep in a box. The car will be gone Monday afternoon.

I recommend grabbing the uprights and rear subframes before you scrap it. SPB guys go through those like crazy. I sold them for $50 each back in the day.

Convertible top frame molding

Do you still have the plastic/rubber moldings (see Pic) that covers the edge of the convertible top frame? If so, how much for both sides? They are probably 18" total on either side.

Base rear hubs? I need to machine them for 3.2 shafts. If you are taking them off I'd like a price.

It looks like you want the rubber seal and the plastic trim that screws on to clamp it in place (#9 in the diagram below):
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1653264121.jpg

That's fairly easy and I'll ship both sides for $20 total.

In the mean time, I looked up the portion of the frame that it screws into, #8 in the diagram, "98656193500" which the parts manual calls the B Pillar. That's almost $1,000 per side: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-porsche-parts/folding-top-pillar/98656193500a09/

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1653264859.jpg

I can beat that price *significantly*, but it's not an easy part to remove.

We already tried this with S model hubs once right? If I can ship to the same US address, let me know. Looking at the old messages, I charged $100 for the S hubs. I should be able to ship these for $75 unless shipping has gone up significantly. Also, I need to get a good look at them to verify the condition.

feedback 05-22-2022 04:50 PM

LOl, yes, the S Hubs were a bust. when I fitted my brakes my wheels rubbed, so I have to keep the base hubs. Same address. Let me know.

78F350 05-23-2022 02:21 PM

I don't have a tractor or lift so I rolled it up on it's side with a winch and pulled the uprights along with the whole rear suspension. It's awkward, but during a short break in the rain, it was quick and easy.

The car is gone now, but I still have plenty of small parts on hand if you need anything.

Feedback, I found that I have three pairs of rear hubs. Work has kept me busy this week, but I plan to have a good set ready to ship on Monday. I'll send pics before I pack them.

Perfect, as long as they are not S hubs I they will be perfect. I have a cracked one I’m mocking up on the lathe to machine new ones. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GBTDW89AbwEd5ndt8

I'm planning to ship them tomorrow, but I'm also spending the whole day with my 11 year old grandson, so it may take until Wednesday. Here's what you're getting, with a bit more of the grime brushed off before they get packed:

Brake cables will probably be good to re-use.

I have one that I'm repairing and Woody gave me a couple for parts. I think they are all +/- 2001 model, manual transmission. Let me know what you want and I'll see if it's available.

Hi. Do you have the stock wheels? I need them for my car. I can send a truck or something to get them from you. thanks!

I'll sort through what I have. Pretty sure I can make a complete set that I don't need. I'll post pics in a day or two.

78F350 06-05-2022 05:30 PM

NomNom, would you be interested in wheels that are different styles between the front and back? I have these two front wheels without matching rears to go with them, stock (17x7):
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...977fa43e_b.jpg

With that I could give up two rear wheels in this style, but with some significant curb rash - worse than this one pictured (17x8.5):
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...57282691_b.jpg

That is what I'd like to do and I could let them go pretty cheap. There may be other possibilities, but I'd want 'market price'.

*assume any tires on the wheels are junk.

As long as all the wheels are stock size, I can mix and match. Curb rash is ok, as long as the wheel is not bent or compromised

78F350 06-07-2022 03:48 AM

I'll clean them up a bit and get pics of the specific wheels I have for you. We can work out details in private message.

78F350 06-07-2022 04:14 PM

Here's a link to pics of the wheels:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/126478035@N08/shares/0k74W4

They are stock 17" wheels, no bends, cracks, or compromised areas. One rear wheel has some scuffing on the spokes from the car being loaded too close to the rail on my trailer and one of the fronts has some staining on the inside from what looks like asphalt. I added detail shots to show those better. $150 takes all four if you can pick them up or arrange shipping at your expense. Otherwise, I can get a FedEx estimate. I'm in northeastern Oklahoma and can give a detailed location in private message.

So, here's what happened. Shortly after seeing your post, I received a PM about shipping the wheels. I didn't notice that the user name was different and that it was someone else trying to score the wheels. Anyway, when I figured out shipping to California (his zip code) and the hassle of having the tires removed I decided it was too much trouble for the time that I had available. Since then, I've been working 12 hour shifts every day and haven't had time for much else. In the week ahead, I will have a few days off. I'm sending you a private message and may still be willing to work this out. Still, a local deal may be better if you can find one.

no need to remove the tires. Will wait for your PM. Thanks!
