Looking for dome light

just need the light and immediate housing (rectangular) that it is in as a clip on mine broke and so it falls out space on the windshield header now.

They're all brittle at this age. A year ago Pelican was selling them for $25. I couldn't find one when I looked this time though. Suncoast has them for $80. I plan on upgrading to the 2001-04 style for my 2000.

Woody is correct. The light assembly on my 2000 broke when I removed it to change the light bulb. The newer parts have metal retaining clips which are more robust.

Here's a thread that provides instructions for upgrading to the newer-style light: http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/58525-dome-light-swap-97-04-type-possible.html

When I bought my light from a recycler, I asked them to provide the connector from the car with the assembly. The car-side connector in the older cars is different than the one in the newer cars. I just cut off the old car-side connector and soldered in the new one. Another post on the linked thread shows how to solder directly to the circuit board if you prefer.
