ah, a puzzle. passenger side, right? that's an overflow - it's support to look like that. the smashed part - has a jeep/chrysler part # - got any other cars? ps, probably posted in wrong forum - would more responses in the general section.

Long involved story but I came to the same conclusion after pouring my fresh oil too fast out of the 5 qt. jug.
Yes that was a jeep part found on my drive the same day I changed the oil and saw fresh oil leaking out of the overflow. 70 yo and still learning.
Just the results of a panic attack!!
