FS: 2.5L Core engine, bad compression
 

Up for sale is a 109k mile 2.5 motor out of a 99 boxster. What you see is what you get, with the EXCEPTION of the oil cooler, that was removed. Motor has an LN IMS upgrade installed.

The basics:

I had a lot of smoking on the track and a compression test revealed 90 hot/30 cold psi on cylinder 3. Cylinder 2 had 190psi so I stopped testing there. Sump and filter were pretty clean, with the standard few bits of plastic from either chain guides or broken spark plug tubes (my friend threw out the bits before I could get a great look). The oiling system should be in good shape and I never had any apparent oil pressure issues.

It could be as simple as a stuck ring, but I'm guessing a ringland is bad.

Either way, could be a good core motor or one to be used for an engine rebuild for the spec boxster guys. If not already sold in my other thread, will throw in the stock throttle body also.
