I am looking to buy a set of original 986 amber headlights that are in good shape, really, really cheap.

I am not sure what you think of as "really, really cheap", but I have a set of the OE headlights from a '99 that are complete with good seals but the usual yellowed/melted inner lenses for sale. They would be perfect for a set to convert to projectors.
