FS '03 Boxster Underhood Cowling Trim
Plastic cowling at windshield, original part 996.572.063.06 from my Boxster. Damage to passenger side anchor point. Attach screw was tightened too tight and broke plastic tabs. Excellent shape otherwise. Repairable.
I would like to get $20 for the part, but shipping is expensive because the box is so big. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1472594089.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1472594186.jpg |
Same thing happened to mine. I plastic welded it and used a larger washer under the hold down bolt. seems to be holding.

Repaired
The part has now been repaired. My solution consisted of gluing a large cork into the cavity (plenty of glue surface to work with), drilling and counter-boring the cork to accept the mounting stud and nut, and placing a washer in the counter-bore to tighten the nut against. This solution works perfectly since the nut only needs to be tightened until the cowl is snugged down and held in place. The repair is totally hidden when the small plastic cap is in place. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1487428637.jpg
Any takers on this now-repaired part? |
