WTB: Upper cubby/shelf

I'm looking for an upper cubby/shelf to replace my useless cup holders.

Let me know, thanks.

Not certain Porsche ever made one for that position.

Might want to move HVAC unit to top and get a cubby for the bottom position.

This is what you are looking for. They are kinda hard to find used. This is the best price I have found for a new one.

Do you know for a fact that this will fit the top slot ? The ad only states that it replaces the radio which normally is not the top slot. I want one for the top slot also that's why I'm asking. Thanks

Top shelf

Shelf instead of radio on front center console in Satin Black for Porsche 986 and 996 | Genuine Porsche | 996-552-253-01-01C

Bottom shelf

Shelf for front center console in Satin Black for Porsche 986 and 996 | Genuine Porsche | 996-552-243-01-01C

So yes I'm sure it is the correct one. Keep in mind that these are for the lower two spots under the actual dash. If you are looking for something that fits in the dash where the radio or the climate control usually go then these are probably not what you're looking for. I'm not sure they make anything to go in the actual dash openings.

If the cup holders are above the radio in the car then you could probably move the climate controls to the cup holder spot and put a cubby in the climate control spot. You would have to find the correct bezel to fit around the climate control though. If you search Boxster 986 interiors you will see pics of what I'm talking about.

I currently have in the 4 DIN spots starting from the top:

Cup holders
New Kenwood radio, yeah!
CD holders
AC controller

I would be happy leaving things where they are and swapping a shelf for the cup holders. I may have to buy something close and Dremel it into submission. Thanks for the info, not exactly sure which item would fit, if any.

There isn't an option for a bin for the uppermost slot. The bins will not fit without modification and even then, you will need to make a trim bezel for it as there will be gaps on top and/or bottom (the bin is too wide and too short for the slot).

Your best option would be to move the climate control unit to the top slot and install a bin in the lowest slot in the lower console (slot #4).
If you decide to go that route, I have the #4 bin (I have one stock and one with LEDs installed) and the trim piece needed for the climate control in slot #1.

Climate control (trim bezel needed)
Stereo head unit
CD holder
Storage bin

The climate control is much nicer up top, anyway. ;)
