Doing 3.6 swap and run into snag...

Both 2003 with 7.8 DMV units. The connections however between the 996 and the Boxster seem to be different and when we went to put the wires into the Boxster harness to control the VarioCam plus we found that there were no pins in that harness. The 996 plug is round while the 986 is the rectangular version. Any ideas as to where I can readily locate the male and female pins for both the female and male connectors? We are ready to stick this motor and in this is one of the last things to address.

Harness

I had to use a Boxster harness. Meaning, I got rid of the 996 harness and used the Boxster harness while adding the needed wires for my 996 cluster I also installed.
You can not use the 996 harness in the 986 or 987 cars.

I am using the 986 harness. We just need pins to add to the 986 harness which actuate the variocam plus. Had the 986 ecu addressed by softronic to gain perforomance and now provide signal.

Maybe I'm not reading it right, but it looks like you just need to know the wiring for the Variocam plus to run on the flashed Boxster 7.8 DME?

How about this from the Pelican Parts tech article:
"The 2007-08 Boxster engines were the first of the series to get Variocam Plus (variable valve lift). The Carrera 996 had Variocam Plus since the introduction of the 3.6L engine in 2002. The 7.8 DME used in the 2003-06 Boxster didn't control variable valve lift, and there are no pins or wires in the engine harness to control the mechanism. Therefore, you need to add the wires into the engine harness when performing this installation. Pins A1 on both valve lift controllers connect to a 12V source in the harness: use the 12V supply for the variable valve timing solenoid. Pins A2 on the controllers connect to DME connector pin C1 for cylinders 1-3 and pin C26 for cylinders 4-6."

This may be helpful too. There is a link to a PDF of the 7.8 DME on the 6Speedonline Forum: Motronic DME 7.8 (ME 7.8) Pinouts & Plug Diagram - Page 3 - 6SpeedOnline - Porsche Forum and Luxury Car Resource

Appreciate the feedback from everybody. Essentially what we need is the actual Bosch mechanical/electrical connectors that we can attach to the wires that then go into the actual connector harness piece on both the ECU side as well as the plug which interfaces with the ECU (male and female).
