WTB: 2.5L Alternator

Just as the title says. Looking for a 2.5 liter alternator in north Texas, dfw to be exact. Please pm me the condition, price, miles, and age. Item needs to be in good working order.

I have one that tested 13.7 volts output which is what you want. Came on a 3.6 engine I bought but it's not original so don't know age but it came from Phoenix, so no harsh weather.
I'll ship it to DFW for $150.

Do you happen to know if it's the same part number?

Is your car auto or manual trans?

Dude,
Get yours rebuilt for $80 and be done with it.

Where? I've never gone this route before. Is there a Porsche specialist I can ship to?

also send a PM to "itsnotanova"

Woody has a Boxster salvage yard in Bastrop, TX and can probably hook you up no problem.

Mine is 997-603-012-fx same # Pelican shows for a 99 Box, but with 997 prefix because it's newer. Also has the manual trans pulley.

I got one from a 986, I'll do 55$ shipped, tested in good shape, I pulled it myself from a 99 boxster 2.5l manual transmission

Look for a local starter/alternator shop. Our town isn't that big but we have a shop, Panama Starter and Alternator that offers the service.

The Boxster's alternator is made by Bosch. When I had a problem with my the alternator on my 2000 BoxS, I removed it, had it tested at Autozone to verify what I thought the problem was (bad voltage regulator). I went to the Panama Starter and alternator and they could have rebuilt it, no problem. Instead, I purchased a Bosch VR (~$40 IIRC in 2013), swapped it and reinstalled the alternator. It's been over two years without further problems.
I had the same shop rebuild the starter on my 1984 Alfa Spider in 2011 when I had the head off as the starter was very accessible at that point. The shop charged me $75.

I like the rebuild process on these cars as I know that mechanically the part will fit.

+ 1

You will find that your very unique Porsche alternator (Bosh) most likelly have an Audi or VW part number.

If you get yours rebuilt, they will install new bearings, brushes/brush holder and also the regulator (no black magic there)

You don't want to install a used part that may be failing soon...
