WTB: Aerokit I side skirts

I believe these are the correct part numbers, also looking for install kit.

left part # 986.559.981.00

right part # 986.559.980.00

Thanks in advance.

I know where you can get some new ones, not cheap, but the cheapest price I have found on them new.

With shipping to my address they come out to $657.34, not sure what you mean about the "trim kit".

Sorry I meant install kit. This is only from what I read elsewhere...that might have been if you are buying used. I assume new ones would come with everything you would need to mount each one.

Obviously this is opinion but what was your decision to not go with the II version? I like the I better myself but just curious what your thought process was.

From my understanding they are the same as the Aero I skirts. They superseded the original Aero I skirts to this number. The G2X means they come unpainted in primer gray.

In my opinion the Aero I skirts look better too. I personally don't like side skirts that have a "twist" to them, which the Aero II skirts have. Porsche also designed the Aero I skirts to not catch your leg when getting out of the car.

Aero II skirts

The number for Aero II skirts are 98655998302 and 98655998402

BTW, what did it cost you to have them painted and did you install them or the body shop? If you installed them on a scale of 1-10 how easy were they to install? 1 being anyone can do it, 10 being you have to be an expert. TIA

That's not my car. I have not had them installed, on my list though. I would say you could do it yourself and use this paint kit.

Porsche Spray Paint Arctic Silver Metallic 92U X1 | eBay

They have other Arctic Silver color codes, mine is X1.

That's a winner. Is there a site you can go to that tells you your paint code or is it on the sticker under the hood in the front with your options?

It's on a sticker under the front hood. See where mine says X1, that's the paint color code.

Used to be able to go to this site and put in your vin # at the end of the address and it would give you the build sheet on your car.

http://admin.porschedealer.com/reports/build_sheets/details.php?vin= <----put your vin # after the = sign

I got my build sheet from there.

I just tried it and it's not working but I have the same X1 on my sticker under the hood as you so I assume that is my paint code, same as yours.

Fishski - yes, your color is Arctic Silver. You have a nice optioned car:

012 - Sport Package
030 - Sport suspension
139 - Heated seats
288 - Headlight washers
340 - Heated seat (right)
375 - Sport seat (left)
376 - Sport seat (right)
424 - Automatic heat control
446 - Colored center caps
454 - Cruise control
490 - Hi-fi sound system
502 - Built in Finland
551 - Wind deflector and storage shelf over engine
584 - Storage box above engine
601 - Litronic headlights
659 - Onboard computer
680 - Bose system
692 - 6 CD changer
983 - Seats covered in leather

Check out the thread in the General discussion on desired options. Your car has a lot of them.

Also - the R-8470 at the bottom is going to be your radio code if you still have the factory radio.

Thanks Red, how did you get it? Truth be told when I bought it I wanted a 911 but didn't want to be in the poor house for a car so I bought the Boxster with a ton of options. Wish I got 18's and the Aerokit...thanks again.

Here's a couple of good lists:
Porsche Option Codes List: The Grandmother of all Porsche Options List. Decode your Options
Options - Porsche Boxster (986) FAQ
https://www.stuttcars.com/technical/option-codes/986-00-02/

Sometimes it helps to crosscheck, as sometimes a code will be missing on one site and show on another.

Your best best for an aerokit is to be checking this board, eBay and some of the other Porsche boards. I've bought aerokit bits and pieces enough for 2 cars that way. (I found my factory Aerokit I sideskirts new on eBay for $100/side for example - you just have to look and be patient.) 18s are pretty easy to find in the same places.

Rick
