FS: PSS9 Suspension Kit Part Out

This is a used set of 986 Boxster PSS9 suspension. They are not new and one of the rears is bent but would be good to have as spares for a race car or to complete another set with a bent shock. Bilstein in Poway, CA can rebuild these to replace the seals and oil but it becomes cost prohibitive when major components (in the case of a bent strut) need replacing due to their pricing structure.

$400 OBO for everythingsold
or
$150 OBO per corner

plus the cost of shipping

Hey Evan - welcome to the 986Forum!

What would it cost to have the three used struts rebuilt and buy one new strut? Would it be less than $2200 for a new set?

Tom

Bilstein quotes $175 per shock for a standard service of a PSS9. Service

Additional parts required for replacing the bent shock would be extra but the last time I called about replacement parts for a PSS9, Bilstein was not interested in selling them or splitting up a new kit to sell an entire new strut. I have heard of a few that were persistent enough to get a different answer but the price they paid for a single shock make it a less then attractive deal.

If you shop around, new Boxster PSS9 kits are advertised at around $2000, which makes pursuing the rebuild option less attractive which I suspect is part of Bilstein's pricing strategy.

As always, if your interested, make an offer. Additional photos are available on request.

In your opinion do these need to be rebuilt ? Or is it just the bent one that needs rebuild/replace ?

They all show some wear, the nature of being a few season of racing old. The three non bent ones still feel good, the adjusts turn freely and make a noticeable difference in difficulty to compress but a couple are starting to leave a light oil film on the shock shaft when compressed and rebounded indicating that the wiper seals are not 100% anymore. Should have good number of miles left in them before a rebuild becomes mandatory as none are "leaking" but I would not expect them to perform the same as a brand new set.

I can send further pictures if desired.
