Curly:

I successfully located a 2003 top for my 2002 Boxster by checking listings here:

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

According to a couple of threads posted on this forum a 2003 or 2004 top is a bolt on project. After finding a Meripol Blue top at the above site I reviewed those threads (thanks Boxsta Boy and others for the articles and photos) and the 2003 top I purchased from one of the junk yards (may I still call them that?) in fact bolted right on to my 2002 last Saturday. Although it is a two "man" job I found that my wife was an exemplary assistant. Assistance is needed only to hold the thing in place while getting the bolts started.

There are presently listings at car-part from about $850 to around $2400 for 2003/2004 tops with the glass window.

May I again thank the members of THIS forum - I now have a glass rear window thanks to the shared knowledge. I am most grateful.

I agree with Malibubill that an 03/04 top and frame is the best option. I recently found one and am pleased with the results.

However, it took me several months to find one. I thought you might find this photo amusing. This top was advertised as having "two small tears". Which is more or less accurate when you look at the photo. Since it was advertised for $850, it sounded like a possibility even if I needed to have a upholstery shop perform some small repairs.

Unfortunately, it looks to me like someone used a crowbar to pry up the two corners of the top. I'm pretty sure that I don't want to try to bend it back to its original shape. It's disappointing because the top is located in a wrecking yard near one of my wife's relatives. We could nave visited my wife's aunt and picked it up on the way back.

This top is still listed for sale on Car-Parts.com in a wrecking yard in North Carolina. I bought my top from Oklahoma Foreign and found them great to work with. The cost was high ($1100 shipped) but I was able to sell my existing top and frame for $400, so my final cost was not too bad.

Also, some wrecking yards will not ship a large item like a top, so you may find one on the web that will be unavailable unless you pick it up yourself. However, if anyone needs a box in which to ship a soft top and frame, I have one in my garage.
