Wife through out box of goodies- Now WTB Oil filter wrench

I had just purchased an OEM filter wrench for my 987 along with filter and some other items.
I left the opened box full of these items in the garage until after my last track day.
The wifey disposed of the box assuming it was garbage!!!! Ouch!!!
Now need the wrench in order to proceed w/oil change.
Anyone have one they want to sell?
Mike

Mike,
I don't want to sell mine, but if it's the same as the 986 filter wrench you are more than welcome to borrow it until you can situated with one.

Bryan,
That is really cool of you to offer- thanks!
I am going to try a cheap one from the auto parts store first to see if that works.
If not, I may take you up on the offer.
Mike

OK. I'm in Lincoln if you need it.

Your wife is allowed in the garage?

Mcarr 07-08-2013 04:06 PM

Mark- she took advantage of some "secret" cleaning while I was gone.
So...the "cleaning" cost me a hundred bucks.
Working on setting some snare traps now.....

I'll sell my Hazet wrench if you want to stick with quality German tools. Don't need it any longer.

Hi Mike,

First, I would be mega pissed at the wife for dumping. My wife is pretty well trained where I can leave an empty box in the kitchen/family room/any room and it can sit there for weeks without anyone touching it.

Second, you don't need to filter wrench. I just got one of those universal filter wrenches with the thick rubber band type loop that you can cinch---> works like a charm, and have been changing the Boxster oil for 11 years now.

I am local also if you guys ever want to get together for Boxster talk!

When I was in a pinch and my universal oil filter wrench snapped, I had to quickly find an alternative. I went and found OEM Brand oil filter cap "F" at an auto parts store and it worked great.

There's the great thing about the spin-on disposable filters - you just bash a screwdriver through them and turn. No special tools required.

You lose anything else important in that box of goodies?
