WTB: Boxster cigarette lighter
Mine is missing.
|
well... if you don't already have the US spec lighter/recepticle (narrower & deeper to hold plugs better)... just order the upgrade kit from Sunset Porsche. Should be < $25. Might be your only way to order a new light to being with...
Now, if you lived on the other coast, I'd say order from Suncoast but w/ Sunset in your backyard, you cannot go wrong. Here's a link to the item on Suncoast's site Good luck :) |
Mine was also missing and went to the parts place and bought a cheapy to fill the hole. Learned that the Boxster lighter is not the standard size. Found a nice replacement on eBay that is on it's way. Hopefully this fits better. If not, I will go with the kit mentioned above.

Sunset was cheap
I bought mine from Sunset for around $15 bucks.

Radio shack has replacements. I put in a extra power point in black on drivers side of radio.
If you don't need a lighter the power point was $7. |
Do I need to remove the dash to replace the lighter/power point socket?
|
no, the panel that the lighter is in will pop off. Start under panel with a flat head screw driver (wrapped in cloth) start prying off and working up. It is held on in middle by a post recessed in a hole. (rough explanation but you will see once it is out).
That should give you enough room to work if not then radio will need to be removed. I was in process of radio swap and seen need for second power point since this is my portable office. I added it then and was simple. |
^Thank you sir.
