Is it just the lighting in the room, or is one amber lighter in color than the other?

The lighting's fine. The angle of the lenses is different. Good luck with the sale.

I don't intend to speak for the seller, but just to answer your question, yes ROBBYG, those lights will fit a 1998 Boxster just fine.
