Car Cover & Ruff Front bumper

Hello Family, I'm looking for a boxster car cover (outdoor all weather) in good condition. I've looked online, but I'm not sure which to get. I dont mind used, but any leads on new ones would be appreciate too.

I'm also very interested on the Ruf front pumper. I haven't seen any of them online. Anyone one knows how much they cost and where to get them?

Thanks in advance

I have the RUF bumper, but it was much cheaper when I bought mine many years ago. Looks like prices have almost doubled for the real deal. RUF lists it at 2450 euro, thats like 3500-4000 US I believe.

Wow, that's highway robbery. Is that oem? I don't mind a good quality aftermarket one. I guess I'm going with the GT3 bumper, unless i can find a use RUF one.

About a year and a half ago I looked at the Ruf bumper for my boxster. Last I knew, it retailed for around $1750.00. Ruf has a new distributer in the USA, and they list the bumper @ 1280 euros. The price quoted in 986 RGT's link is for the bumper, side skirts, mirrors etc.. In any case, the Ruf bumper is an extremely well made piece, and its certainly worth the money.

Here is an interesting site worth checking out . CSR Automotive is a German company who specializes in making some really high quality TUV certified body kits for 986, 987, and Cayman ect.. at reasonable prices.
FVD Brombacher USA use to import some of their products.

Thanks Johnny, but that link isnt working. By the way, how yall feel about the new 997 gt3 front bumper if the ruf proves to be too expensive for my budget?

Try the link now. Also, I don't like the look of the 997 GT3 bumper on the 986 boxster. Especially, the contrived look of the fog lights. Or as the case maybe, the attempt to cover them up or fill them in.

Sorry, but there was no icon to select the appropriate language . In fact, its one of the worst sites in terms of navigation that I have ever experienced. Although, it does show some of the cool body kits they offer for the boxster. However, finding an importer may prove to be challenging. In the past, FVD.US imported their products.

Thanks all for your suggestion! Wow Johnny, your Boxster is looking slick man! I Those rims look nice; what kind are they? I've never really been a fan of black wheels, but I'm reconsidering now. Though they seem to look better on brighter cars like yours. I have a blue 2003 boxster s with grey interior. How do you think black wheels would look on it?

Great Find Johnny. I really like this bumper. I guess it "ruf" styled, less aggressive. Please let me know if you know any company importing it now. I really would like to get it.

Just out of curiosity I emailed the company and inquired if they had an importer in the USA. Their response was basically, one could either purchase from them directly or have an established retailer contact them on one's behalf. I imagine that FVD could probably source any of CSR's products for you.

p.s. Check out this members blue boxster .

3106.11 USD to be correct. Then you have to paint all the parts.

1901.70 for the GT3 kit. This is a good buy for the bumper and side skirts.

Lips may be?

Johnny Danger, or anyone else, what do you think of simply adding a lip on the front. I came accross one in particular from xtrememotocars that looks pretty good. Any insights? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-986-Boxster-996-GTX-Turbo-Spoiler-lip-NEW-/180337813691?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item29fcf8a8bb

I wonder if they are fiberglass or urethane. I know this is a heavily discussed topic (fiberglass v. urethane) but I still cant make up my mind. Any thoughts here?

Thats basically a knock off of the Cargraphic lower spoiler. In fact, they're actually using Cargraphic's images right from their web site.

http://www.cargraphic.co.uk/index.php?/s,6,7,18,714,1109/&start=3

In any case, I am almost certain that the piece is made out of fiberglass and not polyurethane. And to some extent that would be a good thing. However, the problem associated with an add on piece such as that, is it often requires an awful of fine detail work and craftsmanship in order to make it fit well and look really good. And, depending on how high your standards are, chances are piece like that would require as much time and effort to achieve a factory like fit and finish as a complete bumper install would. Personally, I think it looks a bit contrived on the boxster. And I still recommend that you put your money toward a high quality complete bumper.

Take solace in knowing that I spent quite sometime researching and ogling virtually every bumper, side skirt, body kit and aero part known to mankind before I could make a decision for my boxster. In fact, the search became so intense, one night I dreamt that I was walking in the dessert with a naked indian chief who was carrying a bumper under his arm.

I just crushed my CTR bumper putting the Box on a trailer so when I went to the body shop and told them about it and that I was interested in putting on a RUF bumper, they just miraculously had a spare RUF bumper sitting in the back.

Sometimes bad luck is followed up by good luck.

I will post pics in a couple of weeks when I get it back out of the shop.

Also think that I am going to add the GT3 center grill vents to top of the bumper
