Porsche Plus child seat
Have you tried the dealer? They have a newer version called the Porsche Plus child seat. I got mine a few weeks ago for $226.56 & $166.89 for the passenger side airbag deactivation bar (PCA member price). Then, they charged another $120 to install the bar and program the computer.
Good Luck! Jay |
I don't have one of the seats, but if you get the airbag deactivation bar installed you can make a buckle, and then use any car seat. The link to the page with instructions on the buckle can be found here:

Problem solved--If you need one email Chaudanova
I am buying the $590 seat today (the Kid Plus) and the deact unit for $230 and another $180 to install--hell to pay but beats the alternative--not safely driving my kid around town— I can’t tell you the half of the issue I had with Porsche and the dealer on this one—after buying the certified 04 and then being told by the parts manager at the dealer that there was no longer ANY solution to drive with kids in my boxster—save finding a used seat—and hearing the same thing from another dealer--I filed a complaint with Porsche and called the dealer and asked them to reverse the deal and offered to pay another 10K to get into a used 2007; they refused. Then Porsche calls the dealer and the parts manager calls me and reverses course 180 degrees and tells me that there is a seat available after all--but it takes a second mortgage—you can see how I went from desperate to just broke—the car’s utility was going to be seriously hindered if I couldn’t drive my kid in it. It seems it all worked out in the end--but I did get some bad info to start down this path Thanks to Chaudanova for his help and I understand he still has a great condition Zoom seat still avail. for a lot better than $590. Thanks, Ricko

May or may not be well known, but the official Porsche seat(s) are made by Britax, which are all over ebay. The exact duplicate of the zoom by Britax is the Starriser, also the Fisher price/Britax "safe voyager”…also exact duplicate. Under $100 always. You'd still need and activation bar and the belt (described here somewhere) Regards, PK |
Bah, my shop quoted me $1250 - $1700 for the seat, plus the deactivation base, plus install. For those prices, my daughter can wait until she is 20 or whatever to ride with me in the Box.

Ricko,
I hope I'm not to late, but there is a Porsche child seat w/ deactivation bar in the classified over on PPBB.com for $125.00. I have no affiliation with the seller just posting what I saw over there. This will work on a 986, I'm not sure what year you have. You shouldn't be charged by the dealer for the install of the deactivation bar. PCNA should reimburse the dealer for the install as a "warrantee" repair. That is what they have done in the past and is what my dealer here in Toronto did for me. Hope this helps. Aron in Toronto |

Porsche Plus child seat
That's about the same price I paid at the dealer for a brand new one. $393.45 plus tax for the seat & bar.

hey guys, I thought it was against the law to have any child under 90 pounds in the front seat of your car. Is this true or am I ill informed. I have been thinking of buying a 911 just so my three year old son can drive around with me. I live in canada, are the laws different in the states?? If some one can confirm this with me it could save me thousands ,LOL!! :)

Moxster,
I'm not sure where in Canada you live, but here in Toronto and you can have a child under 80lbs in the front seat as long as you have deactivated the front air bags. This may only apply to two seaters and pick-up trucks. I'm not sure. I quickly searched the MTO's website regarding children riding in front seat and there was only an advisory stating "The MTO recommends that children under the age of 13 years be placed in the back seat of the vehicle and away from active front air bags." You may want to check with your local Dept of Transportation to see what the regulations are in your area. Aron in Toronto |
