FS: Stock 2005 987S wheels

These wheels/tires are no longer available

I'm picking up some Cayman wheels soon and thus my original wheels will be up for sale.

Need to gauge interest--anyone want to buy 'em? They're in San Diego and should be available within a week.

- Front OEM Michelin PS2 tires have almost 8000 miles on them. (Would probably still be on the originals even, but I got a leak in one so I replaced them both.)

- Rear OEM Michelin PS2 tires have about 10,500 miles on them.

- None of the tires have ever been repaired.

- No curb rash on the wheels, standard center caps. They look just like these:

And apparently, they also will fit on a 986!

Naturally, after almost 30,000 miles, they could use a bit of cleaning up--brake dust and such, but I'm so freakin' cool that there's not a scratch or ding in sight.

I have been advised by another forum member that I should state, however, that these wheels and tires are sold as-is with no guarantees.

Update: I've picked up the new wheels and will be putting them on hopefully sometime this week.

I have changed one aspect of this listing--I will be keeping my colored center caps for the new wheels, so these wheels will be offered with the black-and-white center caps only.

PM or reply here if you're interested--I'm checking daily.

how much do you want for them

eslai 07-17-2007 09:14 PM

Good question!

I would think $1500 but I really don't know the market. (edit: wheelenhancement.com wants almost $3000 for a new take-off set of these wheels with tires)

I get that number by the following:

- $300 each for the wheels: $1200

- $1100 worth of tires that have over half-life left, well maybe a less than half-life left in the rears: $600

- Subtract depreciation on the fact that the wheels aren't brand new (but are in damned good condition): -$300

But I leave it to y'all to tell me if I'm crazy!

Shipping?

Hi eslai, would you be willing to have them packaged for shipment if I covered cost? thanks

eslai 07-22-2007 10:15 PM

If you're willing to pay for it, I can certainly ship them, but I do think it's going to be pretty costly to do so!

I just cleaned up the wheels yesterday and took pictures--I'll put them up tomorrow.

A scratch. There's another, lighter, shorter scratch on another wheel. I'm pretty sure they'd buff out, and you'd have to be looking for them to notice them.

Rear tire (probably 5000 miles left, maybe more)

I'm surprised you still haven't sold these yet. They look to be in great shape and that's an excellent price.

Why the Cayman S 18s? Just preference? Did you get a good price on some Pioneer take-offs or something?

eslai 07-24-2007 12:41 PM

I found them for a good price from a shop in Los Angeles and I like the style more than the Boxster S wheels. If I sell my original wheels for a good price, I'll be able to break even on the exchange, considering that I now have brand new tires. :)

edit: also, the cayman s wheels will be a bazillion times easier to clean. :D

Yeah, no bites yet here, but that's okay, I'll put 'em on eBay or Craigslist soon to get some more eyeballs on 'em.

hey eslai - I think dr burton got some bites on caymanclub.net I think.....

rboutin 07-24-2007 08:11 PM

Interested...

eslai, would you mind getting a price for packing/shipping to zip 01545. If it isn't insane I'm interested.

Thanks a lot,

-randy

Sure thing. Let me get them weighed and talk to the post office/ups/fedex. It might be a few days before I can get the answer for you.

Sending PM.

Are these sold? If not, any possibility of selling wheels only? I don't need the tires. Let me know.
