FS: Stock 2005 987S wheels
These wheels/tires are no longer available
I'm picking up some Cayman wheels soon and thus my original wheels will be up for sale. Need to gauge interest--anyone want to buy 'em? They're in San Diego and should be available within a week. - Front OEM Michelin PS2 tires have almost 8000 miles on them. (Would probably still be on the originals even, but I got a leak in one so I replaced them both.) - Rear OEM Michelin PS2 tires have about 10,500 miles on them. - None of the tires have ever been repaired. - No curb rash on the wheels, standard center caps. They look just like these: (picture courtesy of member ofcounsel, sorry for the steal) http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...l/PICT0004.jpg And apparently, they also will fit on a 986! Naturally, after almost 30,000 miles, they could use a bit of cleaning up--brake dust and such, but I'm so freakin' cool that there's not a scratch or ding in sight. I have been advised by another forum member that I should state, however, that these wheels and tires are sold as-is with no guarantees. |
Update: I've picked up the new wheels and will be putting them on hopefully sometime this week.
I have changed one aspect of this listing--I will be keeping my colored center caps for the new wheels, so these wheels will be offered with the black-and-white center caps only. PM or reply here if you're interested--I'm checking daily. |
how much do you want for them
|
Good question!
I would think $1500 but I really don't know the market. (edit: wheelenhancement.com wants almost $3000 for a new take-off set of these wheels with tires) I get that number by the following: - $300 each for the wheels: $1200 - $1100 worth of tires that have over half-life left, well maybe a less than half-life left in the rears: $600 - Subtract depreciation on the fact that the wheels aren't brand new (but are in damned good condition): -$300 But I leave it to y'all to tell me if I'm crazy! |
Shipping?
Hi eslai, would you be willing to have them packaged for shipment if I covered cost? thanks
|
If you're willing to pay for it, I can certainly ship them, but I do think it's going to be pretty costly to do so!
I just cleaned up the wheels yesterday and took pictures--I'll put them up tomorrow. |
Pictures!
Group shot: http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels01.jpg All four wheels individually: http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels02.jpg http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels03.jpg http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels04.jpg http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels05.jpg |
A scratch. There's another, lighter, shorter scratch on another wheel. I'm pretty sure they'd buff out, and you'd have to be looking for them to notice them.
http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels06.jpg Rear tire (probably 5000 miles left, maybe more) http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels07.jpg Front tire (probably 15,000 miles left) http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels08.jpg Back side: http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels09.jpg Inside of dish showing some stuck asphalt. Should come off easy if you care. http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels10.jpg These are OEM. http://www.loamy.com/shared/Boxster/987SWheels11.jpg |
I'm surprised you still haven't sold these yet. They look to be in great shape and that's an excellent price.
Why the Cayman S 18s? Just preference? Did you get a good price on some Pioneer take-offs or something? |
I found them for a good price from a shop in Los Angeles and I like the style more than the Boxster S wheels. If I sell my original wheels for a good price, I'll be able to break even on the exchange, considering that I now have brand new tires. :)
edit: also, the cayman s wheels will be a bazillion times easier to clean. :D Yeah, no bites yet here, but that's okay, I'll put 'em on eBay or Craigslist soon to get some more eyeballs on 'em. |
hey eslai - I think dr burton got some bites on caymanclub.net I think.....
|
Interested...
eslai, would you mind getting a price for packing/shipping to zip 01545. If it isn't insane I'm interested.
Thanks a lot, -randy |
Sure thing. Let me get them weighed and talk to the post office/ups/fedex. It might be a few days before I can get the answer for you.

Are these sold? If not, any possibility of selling wheels only? I don't need the tires. Let me know.
